Introduction

Cold Isostatic Press (CIP) is a machine used to compress powder loaded into a flexible mold or pre-pressed blanks placed into a work cylinder into near-net-shape components. The powder, which can be metal, ceramic, or graphite, is placed into a sealed, flexible mold that matches the shape of the final product. Using oil or water as the medium, ultra-high pressure of up to 600 MPa is applied within the pressure vessel. This exerts uniform, omnidirectional ultra-high pressure on all surfaces of the object, resulting in components with a uniform microstructure and high density. This promotes uniform shrinkage during sintering, improves mechanical properties, and facilitates machining.

With the continuous advancement of science and technology, it is widely used in many industrial fields such as magnetic materials, ceramics, hard alloys, graphite, and rare metal powder forming, enhancing the strength and wear resistance of components. The cold isostatic press offers high efficiency and great flexibility. Its work cylinder, pressure intensifier cavity, and frame feature a pre-stressed tension wire-wound structure that complies with the leak-before-burst principle, avoiding stress concentration. This design ensures an extremely long service life, high safety performance, and reduced equipment weight.

Our company's R&D and design team, with over a decade of successful experience, can design and manufacture various models of cold isostatic presses tailored to meet different customer requirements. The high-pressure work cylinder of our cold isostatic presses can reach a maximum diameter of 1 meter, with smaller diameter cylinders capable of achieving pressures up to 400 MPa.

 

Features

1.  The frame, high-pressure work cylinder, and intensifier cavity – the main components bearing ultra-high pressure – are all wound using pre-stressed spring steel strips under tension. This gives them extremely high safety performance and a very long service life of >100,000 cycles.

2.  The pressurization method and speed of the intensification system are adjustable. Ultra-high pressure is generated by intensifying the pressure from a medium/low-pressure hydraulic circuit. The intensifier can be appropriately selected based on the volume of the high-pressure work cylinder.

3.  The pressure release method and speed are adjustable, overcoming the traditional drawback of fast release in the high-pressure zone and slow release in the low-pressure zone. This both improves work efficiency and ensures the forming success rate of the components.

4.  It features an advanced oil-water dual-liquid operation system. The working medium can be high-water-based hydraulic fluid or emulsion, reducing environmental contamination and lowering production costs. The working medium is isolated from the hydraulic system oil, which reduces the packaging requirements for the workpiece. Even if the workpiece packaging breaks, the hydraulic fluid will not be contaminated.

5.  The working pressure and pressure holding time can be set within the allowable adjustment range according to actual needs.

6.  Equipped with an emergency stop switch and an emergency manual pressure release device to prevent danger caused by blocked ultra-high pressure lines that cannot be depressurized, further enhancing equipment safety.

7.  Whether using a moving or fixed frame design, the machine ensures precise alignment between the work cavity and the seal components on the upper end cover. This guarantees reliable sealing and extends the service life of the seals.

8.  High degree of automation with PLC programmable control. Can be configured with a touch screen or intelligent digital display for the human-machine interface (HMI). Features include pressing trend display, fault alarm display and recording, real-time display of process parameters during pressing, and setting/storage of process parameters. It performs all automatic work cycles excluding loading and unloading. Directly displays the actual pressure in the work cylinder. Simple operation and easy maintenance.

9.  The hydraulic station uses hydraulic valves and pumps from renowned manufacturers. The inlet and return oil lines are equipped with additional filtration systems and a return oil cooling device. It can automatically monitor the hydraulic station oil temperature and control the start/stop of the cooling system to ensure continuous and reliable operation of the hydraulic system.

10. The work cylinders, intensifier cavities, and other main load-bearing components of the isostatic presses produced by our company are manufactured from high-quality alloy steel through forged blanks. They are strictly processed according to technological requirements and undergo rigorous non-destructive testing, making the product quality more reliable.

11. The pressurization methods for the isostatic presses produced by our company include three types: "Two-Way Reciprocating Intensifier," "Dual-Cylinder Alternating Intensifier," and "Single-Stroke Intensifier." These can be rationally selected based on the work cylinder volume, which both increases the pressurization speed and ensures the product forming rate of the components.
